Assistant Controller | North Milwaukee
$125,000 to $145,000 + Bonus & Benefits
We are partnering with a growing, privately held manufacturing organization to add an Assistant Controller to its finance and accounting team. This is a highly visible role that will support continued growth by strengthening cost accounting, financial controls, and team development within a hands on manufacturing environment.
The Assistant Controller will serve as a key leader for day to day accounting operations while partnering with plant leadership, supply chain, and operations. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys being close to the business, improving processes, and developing people.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and oversee the monthly close process, including review of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Lead and support manufacturing cost accounting activities, including inventory valuation, standard costing, variances, and margin analysis
- Partner with plant and operations leaders to understand production drivers and their impact on financial results
- Assist with cash management activities, working capital analysis, and coordination with treasury as needed
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures to support accuracy and compliance
- Support annual audits and act as a primary point of contact for external auditors
- Help drive ERP usage, data integrity, and continuous process improvement initiatives
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to accounting and shared services team members
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within a manufacturing environment
- Strong background in cost accounting and inventory intensive operations
- Prior experience in a Controller or Assistant Controller capacity, or readiness to step into that level
- ERP experience within a manufacturing setting; comfort working in evolving system environments
- Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capabilities
- Ability to work on site and partner closely with cross functional teams
