Director of Property & Project Accounting - Multifamily | Hybrid Chicago | $140,000 to $160,000 + Bonus & Benefits
Brilliant is partnering with a national real estate firm that is building out its leadership team and looking to add a Director of Property and Project Accounting with a strong multi family background.
This is a highly visible role overseeing property accounting and development accounting across a large, growing multi family portfolio. The position sits at the intersection of operations, development, and leadership, and will play a key role in scaling processes, strengthening controls, and supporting continued portfolio growth.
What this role will focus on
- Leading property and project accounting for a national multi family portfolio, including stabilized and in development assets
- Overseeing month end close, financial reporting, and balance sheet integrity across multiple entities
- Partnering closely with development, construction, asset management, and FP&A teams on project accounting, capitalization, and cost tracking
- Ensuring consistency and accuracy in accounting policies, internal controls, and reporting standards across the portfolio
- Managing, mentoring, and developing a team of property and project accountants
- Supporting system optimization and process improvements as the portfolio continues to scale
What they’re looking for
- Deep experience in multi family property accounting, ideally within a national or multi state portfolio
- Strong understanding of development and project accounting, including construction in progress and capitalization
- Prior experience leading teams and owning end to end accounting functions
- Comfortable operating in a fast paced, growth oriented environment
- ERP experience within real estate platforms strongly preferred
