Job Title: Collections/Data Cleanup Specialist
Location: Oak Brook, IL – 100% Onsite
Salary: $23/hour
Employment Type: Contract – through the end of 2026, with potential for extension
Role Overview:
Brilliant Financial Staffing has been engaged in a search for a Collections/Data Cleanup Specialist to join a well-established, publicly traded transportation and logistics company headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois. The Collections/Data Cleanup Specialist will support an internal collections project focused on cleaning up aging data, obtaining missing documentation, and helping accelerate invoicing and payment resolution. The role will work closely with terminal leadership, drivers, customers, and internal teams to research outstanding items, obtain required documentation, and determine appropriate next steps.
Responsibilities:
- Review daily Excel reports identifying invoices with missing paperwork, including Bills of Lading and Proof of Delivery documentation
- Analyze and prioritize outstanding items based on market, aging, and dollar amount
- Contact terminal leadership and drivers by phone and email to obtain missing signatures, timestamps, and supporting documentation
- Reconcile received documentation and submit completed materials through internal systems
- Verify payment status of outstanding invoices and identify required follow-up actions
- Resend invoices and customer statements as needed
- Research aging items and assist with resolving discrepancies
- Summarize findings and communicate outstanding issues and next steps to management
- Maintain accurate documentation and follow up consistently on unresolved items
- Assist with additional collections, reporting, and data cleanup projects as assigned
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in collections, accounts receivable, billing, administrative support, or a similar detail-oriented role
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, and manipulating report data
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies or missing information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, punctual, and highly accountable
