Job Title: Accounts Payable Specialist
Location: Hybrid – Chicago, IL (2–3 Days Onsite)
Pay Rate: $28–$33/hour
Duration: Open-Ended Contract (Potential Contract-to-Hire)
Role Overview:
Brilliant Financial Staffing has been engaged in a search for an Accounts Payable Specialist for a growing omnichannel retail and technology company headquartered in Chicago. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced accounts payable professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is looking to make an immediate impact on a small accounting team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this individual will serve as the primary accounts payable resource, supporting the full-cycle AP process while helping ensure timely and accurate vendor payments.
Responsibilities:
- Review, verify, and enter approximately 400–500 vendor invoices per week into the company's AP system
- Match purchase orders and receiving reports while identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Obtain appropriate approvals for vendor payments and communicate with internal stakeholders as needed
- Maintain accurate vendor records, including W-9s, payment terms, and ACH banking information
- Process weekly payments via ACH, check, and wire transfers, with ACH serving as the primary payment method
- Reconcile accounts payable accounts on a monthly basis and assist with month-end close activities
- Prepare and organize supporting accounts payable documentation for month-end reporting
- Partner with the Controller to support special projects and additional accounting initiatives
- Ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of all accounts payable transactions
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of full-cycle accounts payable experience
- Strong understanding of the complete accounts payable process, including invoice matching, payment processing, reconciliations, and month-end support
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies independently
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively on a small accounting team
- Comfortable managing a high-volume workload while meeting deadlines
- Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or Ramp is preferred
