Job Title: Director of Treasury & Tax
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid)
Salary Range: $150,000 to $200,000 + Bonus/Benefits
Our client, a rapidly expanding private equity backed company, is targeting significant growth over the next several years through both acquisition and organic expansion. They are seeking a hands-on Director of Treasury & Tax to join their finance leadership team and report directly to the CFO.
This individual will take ownership of the company’s treasury operations while also overseeing all aspects of tax compliance, planning, and reporting. The role offers a strong blend of strategic partnership, financial management, and cross-functional collaboration with senior leaders on capital structure, cash flow optimization, and M&A activity.
Key Responsibilities
Treasury
- Lead all treasury operations, including cash management, forecasting, and liquidity planning.
- Oversee daily cash positioning and reporting across multiple entities.
- Manage the company’s debt portfolio, including compliance, refinancing, and covenant monitoring.
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, with a focus on reducing debt and optimizing interest expense.
- Manage interest rate hedge instruments and evaluate strategies to mitigate rate risk.
- Partner with the CFO and FP&A on capital allocation, working capital efficiency, and forecasting accuracy.
- Implement process improvements and treasury system enhancements to increase accuracy and visibility.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws, including income, sales, property, and international taxes.
- Oversee tax reporting and K-1 communications, coordinating with private equity partners and advisors.
- Develop and implement proactive tax strategies that support growth and M&A initiatives.
- Oversee preparation and review of tax provisions and disclosures under GAAP.
- Manage external advisors and the outsourced tax team (Big Four).
- Lead tax audits, monitor legislative changes, and assess potential impacts to the organization.
- Support M&A activity through tax due diligence, structuring, and post-acquisition integration.
- Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate tax processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in corporate tax and/or treasury within a multi-entity environment.
- Strong understanding of cash management, debt structures, and financial instruments.
- Proven experience in tax compliance, planning, and reporting.
- Exposure to mergers, acquisitions, and integrations.
- Advanced Excel and ERP proficiency; SAP experience a plus.
- Excellent communication, judgment, and collaboration skills.
- Experience in consumer products or food manufacturing preferred.
