Job Title: Collections Specialist
Location: Oak Brook, IL
Pay: $23/hour
Role Overview:
We are seeking a customer-focused Collections Specialist to support the resolution of billing discrepancies, customer account issues, and outstanding receivables. This position will work closely with customers, internal departments, and payors to resolve invoice, pricing, fuel, credit, and documentation issues, while providing a high level of customer service. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, communicating directly with customers, and using Excel to research and track account information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Resolve customer disputes and issues related to invoices, pricing, fuel charges, IT issues, billing, credit, and documentation in a timely manner
- Support the onboarding of new customers and billing processes through effective internal and external communication
- Run and review aging reports to identify outstanding balances and collection priorities.
- Research root causes of payment and billing issues
- Identify and route discrepancies to the appropriate internal departments for resolution
- Verify payment status on outstanding invoices and summarize findings, recommended actions, and follow-up items
- Document customer and internal communications, including issues, actions taken, responsible parties, and follow-up dates
- Make collection calls to customers regarding outstanding balances and recommend appropriate actions for slow- or non-paying customers
- Follow up with customers via email regarding outstanding invoices, disputes, and payment status
- Monitor and respond to the AR inbox on a daily basis
- Resend invoices and customer statements as needed
Qualifications:
- Comfortable working in Microsoft Excel
- Comfortable speaking directly with customers by phone regarding billing and collection matters
- Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills with the ability to research issues and identify appropriate solutions
