A manufacturing client of ours near Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a contract Senior Cost Accountant (Hybrid role for local candidates or remote with occasional / ad-hoc travel to plant).
SAP ERP experience required.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and timely month-end closings
- Perform cost accounting functions, including variance analysis and product costing
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes
- Analyze financial data and prepare reports for management
- Assist with annual audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulations
- Utilize SAP for financial data management and reporting
- Create and maintain cost centers, profit centers, and other master data
- Generate standard and custom reports using ERP system capabilities
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance or related field (required)
- Cost accounting experience in manufacturing environment with strong understanding of manufacturing process (required).
- SAP ERP experience (required)
- 3-5 years of experience in general ledger and cost accounting
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and critical thinking skills.
- Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
- Ability to create and analyze data to help the business make decisions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
