Job Title: Platform Manager
Location: Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC
Salary Range: $180,000 - $210,000

Position Summary
The Platform Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a global team of engineers focused on designing, building, and maintaining large-scale data and infrastructure platforms for enterprise environments.
This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership to ensure automation, scalability, and operational excellence across all platform deployments.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, and data platform operations, with experience managing distributed teams and driving modernization initiatives across cloud and hybrid environments.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and develop Platform Engineers, DevOps, and DataOps professionals across global locations.

Design and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines to enable consistent, automated deployments.

Collaborate with architecture and product teams to translate design specifications into executable engineering plans.

Manage environment readiness and release processes across development, staging, and production environments.

Establish, monitor, and report on operational SLAs, uptime metrics, and performance indicators.

Ensure platform security, compliance, and integration with enterprise identity and access management (IAM) frameworks.

Oversee patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management for open-source components such as Spark, Trino, Airflow, NiFi, and Ranger.

Lead incident response, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to ensure continuous improvement.

Maintain detailed technical documentation, support audit readiness, and participate in architecture review processes.

Infrastructure & Automation: Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, Terraform, Helm, Kubernetes (K8s), OpenShift (OCP), Vault, Ansible
Platform Components: Spark, Trino, Airflow, NiFi, Ranger, Iceberg, DataHub
Security & Networking: IAM, SSO, RBAC, Kerberos, firewall configuration, secure network segmentation
Monitoring & Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Splunk
Languages & Operating Systems: Linux, Bash, Python, YAML, Go (experience with Java or Scala is a plus)
Process & Methodologies: Agile/Scrum, DevOps, ITIL change management
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

8–12 years of experience in platform, DevOps, or infrastructure engineering, including 3+ years in a management role.

Proven experience designing and supporting large-scale, cloud or hybrid-cloud infrastructure environments.

Demonstrated success leading distributed or global engineering teams.

Strong understanding of enterprise deployment, automation, monitoring, and operational best practices.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and cross-functional leadership skills.
