Job Title: Platform Architect
Location: Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC
Salary Range: $225,000 - $300,000

Role Summary / Purpose
The Platform Architect will be the key technical leader guiding the design, integration, and growth of a modern enterprise data platform. They will ensure the platform meets business needs while maintaining scalability, security, and alignment with open-source design principles. This role requires a forward-looking, customer-focused mindset and active participation in architecture decisions across the organization.
This individual will define and evolve the platform architecture, establish integration patterns, and create scalable solutions based on enterprise requirements. They will collaborate with engineering, security, DevOps, and product leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality implementation and platform maturity across environments.
Core Responsibilities

Lead the architecture and evolution of a large-scale data platform across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.

Define integration points for data pipelines, orchestration, governance, and security layers.

Translate business requirements and solution requests into robust, scalable architecture blueprints.

Participate in Architecture Review Boards (ARBs) to ensure alignment with enterprise standards and best practices.

Maintain reference architectures, design patterns, and integration frameworks to guide implementation teams.

Mentor platform engineers and other technical teams to ensure adoption of best practices for security, observability, and reliability.

Oversee the selection, integration, and tuning of open-source data technologies such as Airflow, Spark, Trino, YuniKorn, Superset, S3, NiFi, Ranger, and DataHub.

Collaborate with leadership to evolve the platform roadmap and long-term architectural vision.

Partner with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, Security, and DataOps, to drive alignment and improve platform maturity.

Ideal Background

8–12 years of experience designing or implementing large-scale distributed data platforms.

Proven track record as a technical architect or lead engineer in modern data or cloud platform environments.

Hands-on experience integrating and managing open-source data tools across hybrid-cloud and containerized environments.

Strong understanding of enterprise governance and security frameworks (e.g., SOX, FFIEC, GDPR).

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, capable of influencing architecture decisions across teams.
