Job Title: Principal Databse Engineer

Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on and highly experienced Principal Database Engineer with deep expertise in Amazon Web Services (AWS) and extensive practical experience with SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL databases in AWS. The ideal candidate will also have strong experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins, and a solid understanding of DevOps practices in cloud environments.
This role is critical in designing, building, automating, and optimizing robust and scalable database solutions in the AWS cloud. You will work closely with infrastructure, DevOps, and development teams to deliver high-performing, secure, and resilient database platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement cloud-based database architectures across SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Oracle.
- Deploy, automate, and manage database infrastructure using Terraform, Ansible, and Jenkins.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database deployments and updates.
- Drive performance tuning, query optimization, and capacity planning for large-scale databases.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and backup strategies are in place and tested.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and enforce database security and compliance standards.
- Act as a technical leader and mentor, providing guidance on best practices for database engineering and automation.
- Troubleshoot complex database and infrastructure issues in production environments.
Required Qualifications:
- Last 7+ years of hands-on experience managing and engineering SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL databases.
- Proven experience with AWS cloud services (e.g., RDS, EC2, S3, IAM, CloudWatch).
- Strong proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Experience with configuration management and automation tools like Ansible and Jenkins.
- Deep knowledge of database internals, query tuning, replication, and backup/restore processes.
- Hands-on experience with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles, including continuous integration and continuous deployment for databases.
