Accounts Payable (AP) Manager
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Manager to join our team in Downtown Chicago. This role is crucial in overseeing the AP payment function, centralizing processes, and ensuring seamless payment operations. You will work cross-functionally with finance and operations to enhance efficiency and governance within the AP function.

? Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 4 days in office (Friday required), other days flexible
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the Accounts Payable payment team, including payment processing, direct debit bank clearing, and vendor master setup.
- Maintain cash accounts and log all outgoing disbursements.
- Ensure disbursements comply with company policies and procedures.
- Oversee a team handling payment runs, off-cycle payments, and direct debit clearing.
- Train, coach, and develop AP team members to enhance skills and performance.
- Manage weekly cash forecasts and present findings to senior and executive leaders.
- Monitor vendor payment agreements to maximize potential cost savings.
- Run monthly aging reports and provide management with financial insights.
- Develop governance for the direct debit process and mitigate debit balances on vendor accounts.
- Reconcile payables reports to ensure accuracy in disbursements.
- Conduct root-cause analysis (RCA) on payment failures, returns, and duplicate payments.
- Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives across AP functions.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
? Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
? Experience: 4+ years of accounts payable experience with leadership responsibilities.
? Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word required).
? Preferred: Experience with SAP S/4HANA is a plus.
? Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills.
? Leadership: Must demonstrate the ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members.
